Haha. Why the heck do the Jets need or want Chabot?

…because he’s a top 4 LD who is under a reasonable contract through to 2028? Morrissey and Chabot on the left side is quite desirable I would say. And given the exodus of Jets happening this summer, having some long term contracts would seem appealing no?

If Sens would take a LHD back in this deal I’d says yes.

Not on the Left side it wouldn't. Now if he was a right shot RHD maybe we talk. But it wouldn't be Ehlers one of very few guys who wants to be here and is signed for a couple more years.

The jets offence would be to weak without ehlers especially once they move schiefielle so jets decline unless Ottawa throws in like Shane pinto.

Who would that be? Admittedly not an expert on Jets depth.

I do like Chabot, and maybe it is because he plays 30 minutes a night. But the guy has never played more than 71 games in a season.

I certainly see your point. My thinking in this, and as a fellow fan of a small market Canadian team, is that the Jets might address offence via the upcoming Scheifele and Helly trades.

Easier imo to get a 2nd line winger than a 1st pairing dman who eats 30 mins a night.

Erik Karlsson has left the building. Let's keep it that way.

Respectfully disagree. Our LD is stacked now with Chychrun and Sanderson, and Kelvin not far behind. I love Chabot, but if we could get Karlsson for this, I’d do it in a second.

You have to pay to get. I love Ehlers so I'd do it but I'd need to be 100% convinced that he would extend in Ottawa

Of course not.

2017-18 (rookie season) : 63 games but not because he was injured... He played in the AHL too
2018-19 : missed 12 games
2019-20 : played all the 71 games (covid)
2020-21 : missed 7 games
2021-22 : missed 23 games
2022-23 : missed 14 games

Not ideal but pretty much all players miss games. It's only the last 2 years that he missed more than he should. He only missed 19 games in his first 4 seasons.

Like i said. I like Chabot and you right all guys miss games. He plays basically the one position the Jets do not need any help from. We have Morrissey, Samburg, Dillion and Heinola all trying to claim that spot. Is he in upgrade on 3/4 of those guys yes. Is he an 8 million dollar player, probably not in my opinion.

Chabot under a real defensive system and with the right partner is absolutely worth the money. He's a top player who has been asked to do way too much for years

But it doesn't mean that's what the Jets need right now. They should do a mini rebuild now

I'm happy EK had a great season and won the Norris because he was robbed in 2016, but this season was an outlier.
Since leaving Ottawa his point totals per season are: 45, 40, 22, 35... then 101. Tell me what your offer would've been in any of the seasons BEFORE this one.
