Def a playoff team and would love the CGY move. Would likely need to send a little more to get it done tho :/

My thinking has shifted recently that maybe it's just a lateral move trading Olo and signing a diff offensive guy. Then you're essentially paying 6.5 mill to have Tatar when he's only a replacement to Quinn for 4 months. I think if Buff adds a forward before the TDL its a grit guy who could slide up and down the lineup like a Nick Cousins (not available but just an example), Yakov Trenin or Jack McBain

I would be willing to throw in a B prospect or something to get the Calgary deal done. For me, Tatar is a significant upgrade from Olofsson. He would just make that second line so much more defensively responsible until Quinn is back. When Quinn is back Tatar can fit right in on the third line, and if everybody is healthy guys like Jost, Girgensons, and Okposo could rotate out as the 13th forward.

Is Vladar really much of an upgrade over either UPL or Comrie? Considering how he has only 55 games of NHL experience (vs. Comrie/UPL having 47/46 games respectively) and the same average save percentage over those games as the 2 Sabres, it seems like a lateral move and, as Adams says, making a change for the sake of making a change.

Although the Sabres like Hanifin, I doubt they'd forfeit a 1st and 2nd along with Jokiharju (who they still like) to get him.

For me, Vladar isn't the flashier upgrade that I would prefer in net, but I would be willing to roll the dice on him over UPL and Comrie. He has at least played at a pretty high level professionally, and really just struggled this past year. I think there is still some meat on the bone there, and I just have no faith at all in UPL or Comrie.

Adams has spoken fairly highly of Jokiharju, but he wasn't added by this regime, and I don't think they would have any problem letting him go for an upgrade. When he talked about our young defensemen most recently he specifically mentioned just the trio of Dahlin, Power, and Samuelsson. It's probably a long shot that we actually add another defenseman, but I'm just not sure that the Clifton and Johnson additions are enough to sure up the back end.

In his end of season press conference, Adams made it a point without any media bringing him up to defend Jokiharju as still only 23 and in the development stage of his career with a lot of potential to improve. Granato has almost from the start defended and praised Jokiharju as well. Granted, he hasn't been committed to long-term like the "big 3" will soon be but it wouldn't surprise me if they kept him all of next season and extended him.

The ongoing tendency of so many fans and media clinging to the theory that players not acquired by the current management of a team are somehow more likely to be dealt than those acquired by the same management team has always puzzled me. If that were true, then Adams wouldn't have extended Thompson (who he didn't trade for) or Samuelsson and Cozens (both of whom he didn't draft) or trade Hall (who he signed) and Bloom (who he drafted).
