I know most Sabres fans think Jokiharju is a throwaway and needs to be dumped as soon as possible but any realist will accept the obvious fact that Adams and Granato have each repeatedly said how they value him and see more room for development and growth because of his age. If they decide to trade him as part of a larger package, you can bet it won't be for some insignificant return.
Boos liked this.

arizona doesn't do this trade. they are thin on the blue line but moser and durzi are their top right shot D. they may believe in the potential in jokiharju but a 2nd round pick is a significant asset for them as a rebuilding team, even if it's in the future. and i can envision jokiharju being a solid 3rd pair D for us. i can also envision more up and down play and maybe we look to move him at the deadline if we feel ryan johnson can step into a role next season.

They have 10 2nd round picks and 7 thirds over the next 3 drafts.

They just had 2 firsts and 4 thirds this year.

They had 3 firsts, 2 seconds and 2 thirds last year

I traded 1 second in 2026 that isn't even theirs and a 4th in a draft that they have 3 seconds and 3 thirds

Depends on what they see his ceiling as, I suppose. I think the plan is still to be the default landing spot for Dumba when no-one else can clear the cap and offer something competitive. If not, maybe they look at something like this, but I doubt it, personally. Durzi took that spot in the lineup, I think. Before that happened I think it made much more sense.
If they view him lower in the lineup, then he's competing with a number of other cheaper young guys, and there's no reason to move a second for him.

They've got Durzi and Stetcher who are locks for the right side in some capacity. Then they've got Soderstrom and Kesselring fighting in camp for a regular spot in the lineup with Brown-- all on the right side. If they can't sign Dumba, then maybe they look at Jokiharju, but I think they are looking for a more dependable guy to play higher in the lineup. Preferably with size.

Like it or not, Sabres fans, this is pretty close to what the opening day will probably be, imo. But, am thinking they keep Joker. They may even run eight with d-men in light of what happened last November.

My hope is for Helly. Wouldn't be surprised if they brought in Patty Kane. Am thinking Olofsson will get moved despite the Quinn injury.

But what it comes down to is that this is pretty close to the roster we'll be seeing come October.
