Pittsburgh wasn't a playoff contender.

The Penguins contended in postseason play for 16 consecutive seasons. Bad trades and games lost broke the Penguins' streak. Better personnel moves this offseason could help the Penguins reenter postseason contention for the upcoming season.

Yes, the operative word is "could." The Red Wings were in the playoffs 38 years in a row, or so it seemed. Why is Buffalo, who had the same number of points as Pittsburgh last season but more overall wins, less a playoff team than the Pens? And you cannot deny that Buffalo is on an upward trajectory while the Pens are currently pointed downward.

Yeah, making the right moves in the near future might return the Pens to playoff contender status. That's precisely my point.

Your faith in these click-bait-purveyors is touching. Did you miss the part of my comment reminding you about Pierre-Luc DuBois? Do you still believe that someone offered a high first-round draft pick for Josh "yes we're joshing" Anderson?

Pittsburgh was a playoff contender. They missed the playoffs by one game. That is the definition of contending for the playoffs lol.
And yeah the most trusted nhl insiders are “clickbait”. You just lost all credibility with that comment. And I didn’t forget anything. The only people I saw saying PLD only wanted to play for the Habs were Habs fans and people on this site.

Lost all credibility? Says you. Your opinion isn't fact.

Yeah when you claim the most reputable nhl insiders who know more than anyone on here are simply clickbait, you lose all credibility. And it isn’t my opinion. It is based on reports from the most reputable nhl insiders lol

I would like to see the 2023-2024 season play out. Both the Penguins and Sabres find their ways back into postseason play.

Suter keeps his head above water better than Carter at this point and Dallas has plenty of centers. Easy pass

Bless both of you for trying to fight this fight. Pittsburgh has next to nothing of value from a trade standpoint. Any deal that Pitt could put forward, Carolina for example could and should and probably would easily outbid. This deal would be extremely complicated for Pittsburgh and I don’t see anyway it realistically happens other than in fantasyland which is this site lol

Just because other teams COULD beat a deal the pens put together, doesn’t me they will or believe they should. There’s a reason all but 2 teams dropped out and why should Carolina beat the pens trade? Their defense is already stacked and they already took on Burns.
