I honestly don’t think Brodie should be that tough to move. I thought he was better against Tampa, and worse against Florida tbh. He’s the type of guy that makes his d partner better by taking the blunt of the forecheck but still being able to move the puck to his partner. The issue was that McCabe and him weren’t a fit because they both do the same job and neither of them are transition guys. If Brodie is paired with Rielly or even Liljegren then he looks great. He’s a reliable stay at home guy and those types of defence are valuable.
The problem is the cap situation on Toronto - $5M is a fine contract for him but with the Leafs being cap strapped they won’t get much for him. & most other contenders are cap strapped so it’s tough.
I’m not sure why some bottling feeding team wouldn’t take him for cheap, play him for a few months and then flip him at the deadline. If he’s moved at the deadline to a contender it’s an easy 1st round pick + a prospect in return and for a rebuilding team that’s valuable
