Wtf that was the least bad trade.
Trade 1 is hilarious, no one would pay for an AHL player earning long term nhl money.

Trade 2 is just a simple no because Nashville doesn’t need centers and JGP isn’t worth a 1st with how his contract and position in New York looks like

Trade 3 is even worse than the 1st because there’s not a chance that Toronto accepts that. Nylander would never sign an extension to start with and it’s too little assets and no NHL talent going the other way. Wahlström is the requirement.

Trade 4: just Makes no sense, why would Detroit trade a small but young and talented forward for a older and worse player? No point at all

Pageau is worth a 3rd or 4th. Probably a 2nd with retention lol

Leafs are win now so a prospect and futures doesn’t help them. Plus Nylander wants $9m+

1. Verbeek loves his tough guys to protect his young stars, Johnston and Reaves are the best fighters/goons left in the league - I can definitely see him traded for a 6th.

2. Trotz loves Pageau and he would be a good 2C on many teams, one of the most versatile and useful players in the league - he also brings the charachter/identity Trotz wants, a late 1st for him is not that unrealistic, he’s also a C.

3. Two 1sts + a good prospect is not to much if Nylander doesn’t want to/can’t re-sign with the Leafs, especially with the inflated forward-market. Why wouldn’t he sign with the Isles? He’s very familiar with Lou and one of his best buddies in Engvall is signed longterm.

4. Because Mastrosimone won’t be signed by Detroit and Pivonka won’t be signed by Isles, Mastrosimone will be a UFA and is from Long Island.

We're getting a whole lot more than Pageau if we're sending you a 1st from any year... a whole lot more.

You’re severely underrating the market for a centre like Pageau + the connection with Trotz and his usage of him. A 4th lol. They could always use the newly acquired draft-capital to go get someone to help them now you know.

Lol Nashville dumped two expensive centers and they’re not gonna pay a premium for another one

Or toronto could trade for a replacement winger while getting futures too

You’re clueless, Duchene didn’t play C in Nashville for start and the reasoning with both buyouts is pretty well documented - Trotz wanted to change the culture and Pageau is way cheaper than both.

Okay who?

Nashville wouldn’t help the islanders cap dump so they can make room for Willy lol. If you can’t tell, cap space is a luxury. Pageau isn’t that impressive for a center and I bet Nashville rather their young guys get playing time

Lol i don’t know. Toronto shouldn’t be trading Nylander at all

Hard pass from NSH. Even at reasonable price (like a 3rd or 4th, as suggested above), the Preds don't have need of or a spot for Pageau. A 1st for a 30 year old who's bested 20 goals once in his life is ridiculous.

Hayes with 50% retention went for a 6th. RyJo with 50% retention went for nothing

Cap dump? No. Valueless? Yes. Look at the market. Unless the player is on a sweetheart dirt cheap contract, they have no value. Hayes 50% retained for a 6th. RyJo 50% retained for nothing. Duchene buyout.

NSH doesn't want or need Pageau. NSH declines it for that reason alone. Just because Pageau is a Trotz guy doesn't mean that he is going to bring in players like that, especially at a premium. NSH already has ROR, Glass, Parssinen, and Sissons as the likely starting centers and have Novak as a backup that they can flex to if need be. Trotz has already said he is letting this be a development year for youth and changed around leadership with ROR, Shenn, and Nyquist to enhance what leadership is there. Most of NSH is 26 or under and it appears that Trotz is keeping it that way to make a serious push in a year or two.

You islander fans over-value all your players. Please explain why Nashville will want a soon to be 31 year old center who’s good for 30/40 points making $5m for 3 more seasons

Lol even Nashville fans agreeing with me
