The jets would rather keep Dillon than sell on him for scraps

He's an 32 year old pending UFA and you have guys like Stanley and Heinola who can fill that role. You're adding two bottom 6 wingers which you could absolutely use, one of whom could become a top 6 if healthy. Not sure how much you think Dillon is worth...

Disagree. You're adding a 24 year old RFA who can play any position, plays both ways and can play in your top 6 for years to come, along with a top pairing defenseman. Both of whom combined cost about the same as Willy. Bringing in Hanifin allows us to use Brodie's cap hit to upgrade elsewhere.

I mean of course if we can get more I'm all for it, but I don't think Leafs fans are realistic about his value at all.

Rather have Liljgren all day long than Peeke. More Leaf fan silliness thinking Brodie is waiving to a West Coast non. playoff team.

He has a 10 team no trade list, you think southern California is on there? Also what trait is it that you like so much about Liljegren just out of curiousity?

What's so special about the Ducks?....Out of the playoffs, poor travel schedule compared to the Leafs....or probably any team in the East. The Kings might be on his trade list....they are a playoff team, but probably don't have the cap or the need for him.
I beleive Lilijgren is better than Peeke. Gee, one thing he can do is skate and his improving defensively. He's cheaper, younger and more yeas of control. I know Leaf fans hate their own, but somehow just love bottom enders from non playoff teams.

Peeke is actually a pretty decent skater. He is slightly overpaid as a 3rd line dman because he doesn’t bring a nasty physical edge, but he does empty the gas tank every night, and blocks a ton of shots and takes the body. I’d like to see him get in peoples face a little more.

Lilijgren is a slightly better skater and much better puck mover. It’s about a wash IMO, just depends what your team needs, a penalty killer or a puck mover?

I agree he’s not worth a 2nd, but he’s worth a but more than a 5th. He should probably fetch a 3rd from someone.

He has a 10 team no trade list, which means there's 20 teams he has to be willing to go to. Liljegren is a decent defenseman but he doesn't bring any one element that makes him invaluable. I don't hate our own, I just hate our former GMs approach to scouting and player acquisition. If you're a defenseman with the tool set of Liljegren than you had better be bringing some offense, which he simply doesn't.

Enough of these small, average skaters with nothing to provide offensively who just get eaten alive on the forecheck and in front of the net. Peeke would be the perfect partner for Rielly, and has already been playing a similar role on the top pair with Werenski in Columbus.

I certainly think he brings a nasty edge, and he's actually spent most his time on the top pair matched with Werenski recently. I also think he's a better skater than Liljegren. People seem to have this idea that he's some bottom pairing brute which he's not at all.

Can Peeke defend? Hasn't really shown it recently.

That was more out of necessity than anything, we basically had him and Gudbranson healthy on the right side last year. And man did we not want to see Gudbranson up there. Also, Werenski was hurt all year (minus 13 games). Peeke spent a ton of time on the top pair, but not with Werenski.

He's not just a bottom-pairing brute, but he also doesn't bring much to the table. A lot of his effort is misplaced, to the point where he's often out of position. He's on a reasonable deal for a few more years, still young, blocks shots, brings physicality, and isn't totally useless with the puck. Someone will pay at minimum a 3rd for that.

Yes he can lol, that's why him and Gavrikov were used most often in a defensive role. All these geniuses that can't figure out why their analytics suggest the defensemen typically used in a defensive role seem to have the worst defensive stats according to their tools. Are the coaches so dumb that they all use their worst defensive D men in a predominantly defensive role, or... could the stats be affected by their usage? Look at Gavrikov after leaving CBJ for LA. Believe it or not, some people can actually watch hockey and see what a player is good at. Crazy I know!

Knowing the type of players Rielly thrives with he would be an ideal partner for him. You also have a team that hasn't completely ignored size and strength on the backend, we don't take it for granted lol.
