Not a great deal for Chicago to retain 36% of EK65 salary for old Jeff Carter, a 4th, and a 7th.

They are only retaining 16% sharks retain 20

Regardless, they are using one of their three retention spots for the next four seasons on Karlsson which is $1.84m and eating Carter’s contract for next season all for a 4th and 7th round pick??

You do understand that other GMs jobs are to make good deals a for their own teams and not to help bail the Penguins win another cup…. Right??

The Hawks agreeing to take on $5m for next season is worth a 1st, the other three seasons of retention on Karlsson which is close to $6m combined is another 1st or high 2nd/high level prospect minimum.

Petry has a 15-team NT list which is widely believed to be based on distance with his family in Michigan. San Jose is most likely on it.
