Its unbelievable that I'm saying this but that Boston trade...almost makes sense.

I can see how one could argue that this move improves areas of weakness on both teams, but the key word you used is "almost". The 3 guys going back will most likely not even have his AAV combined once Freddy's deal is done. Tavares isn't completely washed, but his value is probably closer to 6m AAV rather than 11m AAV.

That proposed deal with Chicago is gawdawful for the Hawks. You have them taking on Murray and Brodie’s deals, send two mediocre prospects and a late pick with AND THEN have the audacity to ask the Hawks to retain on Johnson…. 😂

The Hawks will want a 1st for each of Murray and Brodie’s bad contracts.

Agreed, it almost makes a lot of sense. I don't think Toronto wants to help the Bruins, even though it would maximize flexibility to sign Nylander and other younger players long-term.

It doesn't really make financial sense for Boston though - it would leave about $2.3M in cap space to sign both Swayman and Bergeron. Toronto might have to retain $1M or so to make it work.

the Sharks are gonna want futures for Karlsson, especially if they are retaining 3.5 for 4 more years!!!. Nylander would be a good get for them, but he's a pending UFA and wants like 10 mill AAV. I guess they could take him on and deal him at the deadline? or maybe the trade comes with an extension??
