Yeah. I feel like they have a pretty similar level of upside, for being two completely different positions. I'd bet Davidson would want a pick for Raddysh, though.

Colorado REALLY wants to say yes but this move puts them slightly over the cap as well. We would still strongly consider this and figure out a way to get ourselves back under.

Wow, this is a tough one... I'm REALLY high on Raddysh, BUT... the Hawks have such a deficit of "ready," young, RD players that I think they'd do this. Absent this, they have a LONG wait for their RDs to move up to the NHL. Plus, it's NEXT YEAR's draft that supposed to be so strong in defensemen.

Considering how long it takes for defensemen to come into their own in the NHL, I'd do it. They have many high picks going forward, already. (Not that I'm against those; they're great to have!) This could fill a gap in our RD age groups (i.e., between aging vets and prospects being a long ways off.)

IMHO, of course. Others' mileage may vary... smile

For sure. We'll see. I don't know if the pick accumulation was just an early rebuild tactic, or if he just prefers picks in general. So, it's hard to say what he would or wouldn't do. Like you said, D take a while, and we don't really have any on the way for quite a while. Allan could end up on the right side, he has played there at various levels and I've heard talk multiple times that he could be on option on his off side. Then Rinzel will probably play at least two years in college. Krutil probably doesn't get a contract, and Kelley will probably need a few years in the AHL, if he even gets a contract out of college.

So, yeah, looking around the league might become necessary. Although, we still have 3 years of Murphy and 7 years of Jones. Third pairing could always be filled in free agency, or maybe they snag someone higher end that bumps Murphy down to the 3rd pairing. Which kind of sucks to push him further down in a sense, but if a guy like Murph is your 3rd pair RD, that is not a bad position to be in. But, I just think, until CHI is nearing a level of SERIOUS playoff contention, the probably stick to accumulating picks and building through drafting/development. RD is only a concern looking ahead more than 3 years, we really don't need anyone "right now", though.

Yep. I'll be interesting to see how things go. I'd be against signing or trading for D that'd bump Murph down to 3rd pair, too, because his trade value might also decline. I can easily foresee a deal for Murph like McCabe got, that'd also return a 1st rounder.

For that matter, between him and Raddysh, the return in picks could/should be quite handsome. And, to your main point, we really don't need ANYONE right now, apart from those who would help the kids grow. There could be a parade of vets over the years who'd come here on short-term deals and get flipped for yet MORE picks at TDLs. Cheers

For sure. As for bumping Murphy down, I was thinking of that as a next summer or the summer after type of thing, if he is still even with CHI at that point. But, yeah, I agree, I don't like bumping him down. I thought he looked great on the top pair before they acquired Jones. Seemed like he was really growing into that top 4 defensive dman role, before everything fell apart.

I also kind of wonder if they already have targets in mind for the future, maybe even preliminary discussions with other GM's about specific players for future trades. Everything KD does seems methodical and intentional. So, it wouldn't surprise me if that is why they didn't draft any RHD and traded away Mitchell and Regula.

THIS. And until he does something dumb, I believe in how he's doing. LOL

Even when I don't agree with what he does or when I think he could've done better, I still get the impression that there is a purpose that I am just not privy to. Which is infuriating because I NEEEEED TO KNOW!!!!! haha
