Dallas ain't the team to send Petry to. He serves absolutely no purpose there. They also would not be sending back two solid players in return for a cap dump.

😂 at Faksa being a solid player. Maybe 4-5 years ago. He’s absolutely the worst player in this trade and Petry is absolutely the best player in this trade. And while Petry at 6.25 million is overpaid, Petry at 4.5 million is definitely not, much less a cap dump 😂

Agree to disagree. Faksa has fallen off a bit but still produces, and Petry is going to be 36 this year. You're still talking about trading two guys arguably in their prime for someone who might only have 1-2 years left in the league. And Petry brings offense which is not what Dallas needs on their back end right now.

Faksa’s defensive numbers made a massive comeback this past season under DeBoer. Getting him away from Glendening should help his offensive numbers. He’s still a good defensive bottom six center, just overpaid. Calling him the worst player in a trade that has Hakanpaa in it is incorrect

Faksa has produced at or below average 4th line rates for the last three years. I realize he is given horrible deployment, but PIT already has several depth players doing exactly that for cheaper. Petry at $4.5m is vastly superior value to Faksa at $3.25m. Doubt Dubas would consider this trade in isolation and I'm not sure Petry will even waive for DAL.

As far as value goes right now, that's probably true. But will it even be true come February, I'm not sure. Petry is at that age where offensive D-men usually start to become much less effective.

I can always tell who watched Petry and/or follows data based on their opinion of him. Remove his minutes with AHLer Dumoulin and he played consistent with his career standards.

Well you're right, I definitely don't follow the kind of data you shared. I guess that's on me for being ignorant. Crazy that an AHLer played 82 games last year.

No the crazy part is Sullivan is paid millions to make these decisions and he failed. Or Hextall traded away players performing well (Matheson and Marino) while keeping a player that struggled all last season too (Dumoulin). Dumoulin did start to improve as the season went on, but he was also getting much lower minutes and easier deployment. He's a shell of his former self and dragged down every player he played with (Letang, Rutta, Petry).

I mean this really is the issue. Pittsburgh was run VERY poorly last year and who the eff knows whether Petry has anything left in the tank when it was such a circus there last year.

I fully understand the skepticism and never wanted the moves last year in the first place as Marino is a vanilla, but solid defensive 2RD. Sullivan made decisions on loyalty and Hextall/Burke prioritized poor value in Petry, Rutta, and Smith over Matheson and Marino.

Ok Hakanpaa is the worst player in the trade and Faksa is the 2nd worst player in the trade. Still making Petry at 4.5 million the best value of the trade. And still making it a no from the pens.
