Timmins and a 5th doesn't dump Murray and buy 3 years retention.

Frankly, Timmins and a 5th doesn't get either individually.

We'd probably pay a fifth for Timmins, given the current thinness of the right side of our defense, but taking on Murray AND retaining $2 million for three seasons costs you your 2024 first round draft pick.

Mario Ferraro is a top-4 defender (he'd almost certainly play #2LhD ahead of McCabe) on a decent cap hit who is signed for three seasons; Robertson hasn't shown that he can stick in the NHL yet. San Jose isn't ABOUT to do that.

Murray is a negative asset and you cant dump him and pay for retention for nothing

Ferrero plays and Is in the lineup. LTIRobertson is modeling his career on matt murray on IR always
