Preds trade has too many pieces coming back to make it realistic. For Saros, I'd take Holtz and a first.

Devils decline both trades, Hanifin isn't necessary and way too much for Saros. This scenario would also be a mess of conditional picks because of the Meier trade.

Comparable trade would be Schneider to NJ, which was 9oa straight up. To me, it's Holtz one for one or a different centerpiece.

See that'd be fine if Holtz was still as valuable as the pick where he was drafted. He hasn't really shown a whole lot at the NHL level other than some decent AHL stats. Hell, he might not even start the season in the NHL in October

Assuming they get Saros, he'd help take them on some deeeeep runs, and that first would be very late. It'd have to be both for Trotz to budge.

Rather run with Bahl than spend that on a year of Hanifan. Luke will grow into that #2LHD spot while Bahl can eat tough dirty minutes for shut down. Pass.

There's no way Holtz doesn't start the year in the NHL. He would have to look so bad in camp that Graeme Clarke takes his spot. Any D+4 who plays a point per game (and 0.5 GPG) season in the AHL as a D+2 has elite potential, no matter how their D+3 goes. Holtz's season can be chalked up to Ruff not giving him top 6 time after a very successful preseason with Palat and Hughes, bad luck that he was a scratch over the win streak, and then an unfortunately timed injury in the AHL. If he had been dressed for that first game of the heater (and given the top 6 opportunity he earned in the preseason) we could be talking about a player who between November and the Meier trade scored at a 30 goal/50 point pace on PP1 and a line with Palat and Hughes. His most common linemates were, iirc, Boqvist and Sharangovich, neither of whom is with the team anymore. Not long after he was sent down to Utica for good, he was out over a week with illness, and then was injured in like his first game back.

The fact of the matter is that NJ should be perfectly content doing nothing at all the rest of the summer, so any trade for a goalie would have to be a great deal. Saros would have to be an overpay, which makes perfect sense, but it should mean he's not gonna be a Devil.

If you dropped the first to a lower pick on the Hanifin trade and changed the Saros trade to like, Hotz and a conditional first (on making the SCF for example) or did a first+foote+another prospect, then sure. As it stands its too much

Saros alot more proven than Schneider at time Schneider was traded so Id personally put Saros at a higher value.

Personally, id rather have 9th overall in a draft than Holtz as nashville has ALOT of wing prospects.

Foote and McLeod here just adds clutter for Nashville and arent really desirable. Weve got a slew of youngish middling centers (mcleod) and lots of wing prospects (Tomasino, Evangelista, Kemell, L'Heureux, Schaefer, Wood, etc).
