Sabres should not take on that full AAV, specially given that they have Power up in a year, Quinn in 2, Levi in 2 and krebs in one. Could easily risk losing one or two of those guys.

Karlsson is intriguing, but by means, even if it’s at the full Salary, San Jose should not be selling Karlsson for less than a first rounder.

And granted yes, he’s not the strongest defensively, but this is still a 101 pt scorer. To have that on your roster is a major boost, even if you already have Dahlin who can put up points.

You can also become a better defensive team by being extremely difficult to take the puck away from and that’s what having Karlsson and Dahlin and Power would do for you.

Having said all that, I don’t think I want to do it just because of the remaining salary you’d still have to take, the age, and the biggest reason is that he might block Owen Power by taking valuable PP and key game minutes away from him that he needs to develop.

While I don’t think a Karlsson move makes sense for the Sabres, it certainly is entertaining to think about.
Having Skinner, Thompson, Tuch, Dhalin, and Karlsson on the ice at the same time would be extremely exciting to watch.
