Description

They dont need a goalie RN, stop panicking over it.. its also most August let it gooooooooo

PP2- Will have 2/3 of Palat,Haula,Holtz, idk if you want Mercer at C

Nosek and Foote will rotate all year for the 4thLW.

Line Combos are what i would start the season with, Mercer and Nico have better chem than Nico and Bratt. Theres a reason why Ruff always went back to Nico Mercer and Tatar for the line1/Shutdown line, So keep Mercer with Nico.

Plenty of other teams in worse goalie situations than NJ. LA, Edmonton, Toronto to name a few.

He also only played 18 games. Who knows how he'll fare as the full time backup playing between 25 and 30 games

27 games including playoffs. And he was great in the playoffs too. Schmidt can at minimum handle a 1B role, and theres plenty of time to see if he's ready for more

Drafting and developing a true #1 goalie is near impossible these days. However when the time comes to getting a goalie, just identify who that player is and pay the asking price, end of discussion. No point in letting precious cup windows go to waste dealing with a goalie carousel.

That being said, I think NJD is fine with this tandem. The team infront of them is so defensively sound that just an average goalie should be enough

We do not want to see Kallgren or Brennan in the NHL. That scenario would put us one injury away from having to put those guys in spots they shouldn’t be in. Kallgren and Daws would be fine AHL pair. And Brennan has yet to play pro hockey, so should be ticketed for Adirondack.

Look at the teams that advanced further than us last year and their goaltending depth:

VGK: Thompson, Hill, Brossoit, Quick, Patera (Lehner IR)
FLA: Bobrovsky, Knight, Lyon
CAR: Andersen, Raanta, Kochetkov
DAL: Oettinger, Wedgewood

I am huge believer in Schmid, but he is still young. Both he and Vanecek could get hurt, or slump. Adding a depth goalie would not take away anything from this roster. I don’t see any reason anyone would be against it.
