Wow, very interesting in my mind. A.) Kudos for an out of the box trade. I personally hadn't seen this on here before.

From the Hawks point of view...Broberg probably isn't the correct prospect. The Hawks single deepest prospect position is LD. RW is needed though. Maybe Xavier? I'd do that from the Hawks perspective. Jack for 3 more years...I can handle. We've got a lot of goalie prospects needing ice time. He'd just be an expensive backup.

I agree w/ @exo2769. Interesting idea, but Hawks say no. A single 1st and Broberg isn't near enough to take on 4 more years of Campbell, plus Foegele and 50% retention on Mrazak. I'm not sure Broberg is a better prospect than Korchinski or DelMastro. This deal is light at least another 1st rounder.

Hawks decline. Better than the usual Campbell to CHI proposals but as it's been said, there's not enough going to Chicago to take Campbell.

Bouchard doesn't have arbitration rights, so none of this is happening.

But I don't see why you'd expect Edmonton to pay a top prospect + a 1st + a very good 3rd liner + downgrade their goaltending just to save $3M. That's too high a price to pay.

lol at top prospect

lol at very good 3rd liner

lol at 3M savings not being necessary [ignoring the 2.75m dump and other signings] and that this team is better than their current make-up with an equally bad goalie [who has better higher end talent just much less consistent and oft injured] on a much better deal

lol at me for the arb rights mistake, really hoping someone offer sheets him then

what exactly do you think an EDM '25 1st is worth?

2.75M for 25GP 4pts -7 in 2 years of playoffs is good then?

I think your preconceived opinions need a few more laughs! Foegele scored at a 1st line rate at 5v5 last year, he's a steal at just $2.75M. Plus he was top-10 in the entire league for takeaways, expected goals and high danger chances. He's big, fast and physical, Edmonton isn't going to move him for no reason. Hagel wasn't performing as well as Foegele when he got traded for a King's ransom, and yet people here think Foegele is a cap dump.

You might not like Philip Broberg, but observers in Edmonton have noted he's ahead of Klefbom in his development. He's trending towards being a very good 2-way defenseman and Edmonton is quite high on him. They refused to include him in a potential Chychrun trade, for instance, so they definitely aren't going to use him to dump a few million in cap space (especially since they have enough cap space to sign the remaining RFA's already).

So his productivity against actual competition [like in the playoffs] doesn't matter to you?

If a small sample size playoff performance was all that mattered, Artemi Panarin would be cap dump.

And Evan Bouchard would be considered the best defenseman in the league.

Neither are true.

Foeggle had a decent playoff his rookie 5 years ago year and has 7 pts in 43 games and -7 since... what do you think is the outlier here?

EB is a good offensive dman based on his production

AP is almost a PPG in the playoffs so wtf are you talking about?

Panarin: 2 points (zero goals) in 7 games last season, and just 20 points in 30 games (-10) over the past 3 years. That's way below expectations for the second highest paid forward in the league.

And 0.80 P/GP isn't "almost PPG" in my books.

loooooooooooooool you're literally cherry picking small sample sizes while complaining about small sample sizes!

and 20pt in 30 playoff games is decent production when he's the driving force of said production and despite playing on an offensively inept team, unlike Foeggel on EDM

wow

wow

That's kinda my point about sample sizes. You can't have it both ways.

And Rangers are offensively inept? That's a hot take. They scored 1 goal less than Colorado last year, 5 fewer than Toronto and 6 more than Vegas.
