The jets are one of the fastest teams in the NHL and got slower with this trade because Trouba and Niku can both fly.

I really don't see that value in the trade for Trouba. I wouldn't trade a 3rd defensmen, a top 6 forward, a prospect (that has the potential to be the guy we're trading for, if only we had room for him to play) and 1st rounder for a 3rd pairing defensemen and prospect ... unless that prospect was a pretty damn awesome.

Why give up so much to fill a role you already have? You have two 50 pt producing defensemen. Why get another offensive guy? Plus this could be the year for Pouliot to crack the roster and we only had to draft him. If Pouliot played in WPG he might actually PLAY in WPG, but here in Pittsburgh where we compete for the cup, it's hard to crack the roster. You're still carrying Hainsey, so you didn't fill a need. Not sure you even upgraded a current spot.

I don't think ARI would do the Rieder deal. It's not enough. The production is similar, but Rieder is younger by 4 yrs and at far less salary. Unless they thought they could get a good return for Haglen at the deadline I just don't see the value to them. You'd probably need to do something like Sprong or Archibald, with Pouliot and maybe a late pick. They are a team who's 25 and younger so I'd think they would want to stick with youth.

I understand Haglen is Crosby's best friend so best to trade him prior to the season rather than at the deadline in my opinion.

Man, you're so optimistic about Pouliot and I'd really like to know why...!?!? Year after year he gets his chance and do nothing but disapppoint the fans and the staff. He's an off d-man, but he never produces anything offensively. Defensively he seems to be the same since he was drafted. He's awful and mentally weak. It seems like he can't never bounce back game after game. Maybe he still has some good potential, but I think he receives all the chances in Pitt and it's time for him to move on and get some refresh. Sheary it's not so good as some thinks. The only time he was a great player was before the injury in regular season when he was playing alongside Sid. But when he played in any other line, he was a below average player. Even playing alongside Sid in playoffs he's below the average. That's not the case with Guentzel, for example, who played well and make goals even when he played on 4th line. He's the real deal of the Pens. Trouba is 23 like Pouliot and he's way better than Pouliot. Besides, Niku is a decent prospect. So, yes. I think it'd be a good trade for Pens.

As for Rieder's trade...maybe Pens should give a bit more thant that. But not so much. I don't think Rieder has the potential to be much better than Hagelin. Maybe he not even turns into a better player than Hagelin is That's why I think that my trade proposal wasn't not far from what Rieder worths. But I could add Archibald on this trade. No problem at all.

Sheary can fly either and he's a good and young winger. And I gave Jets a very good and solid d-man plus a decent prospect and a 1st rounder. We're talking about Trouba not about Karlsson or Doughty. With all respect that Trouba deserves, but that's the truth. So, I really think that's a pretty fair trade for Trouba.
