I don't see Arizona moving a guy like him. IF and that's a big if, they ever plan on being a real hockey team at some point, they will need to start actually keeping players after they develop them.

To answer your question, no, and not for that if they did.

No **** that’s why it says “not the package it would take” right in it.

No, hayton is our 1C this year, and played on the top line at a 65 point pace, with 43 overall, he finally broke out. We’re also not selling, it’s why Cooley is signing today

With Cooley and Geekie being 1C and 2C in the future, ARI could move Hayton for an upgrade either on defense or in goal, no?

IMO I’m guessing they’re more likely to move Schmaltz for an upgrade as he’s a little ahead of their timeline. But if it was a good enough package could they possibly move Hayton?

Hayton's a 23 year old former top-5 pick who just had a season that looked like a breakout - and as @jpetes250 said, at some point they have to start playing for the present instead of the future. I think that it would take a pretty big overpay to pry him out, and I don't think that Boston has the assets to make that kind of deal work.

Well that's just silly now - Arizona would take it, of course. But a terrible deal for the Bruins.

Ok so BOS does have the assets to facilitate a trade if they really wanted to.

And yes obviously that was absolutely silly and just to prove a point. 😂

ARI wouldn’t be interested in Swayman+ for Hayton? (24yo goalie fits their timeline well and on pace for a true starter) or possibly a Carlo+ ? (top 4RHD, only 26yo and locked up cheap for next 4 seasons)

Hayton likely stays at 1C, he has incredible chemistry with Keller and schmaltz. 2C should be Cooley’s, much in the same way Hughes is jersey’s 2C, it’s a matchup nightmare. Geekie is either getting 3C or 2Lw. If anyone was to get moved it would be schmaltz, but that’s only if guenther pushed him out

I think the issue starts becoming how much does Boston want to take away from their team to get a guy who, while clearly having some big upside, hasn't shown he's a clear-cut 1C on a contender? Moving Swayman means your tandem is Linus Ullmark and uhhh Brandon Bussi? Michael DiPietro? I wouldn't want to do that - part of the reason Ullmark seemed to succeed so much last year was specifically because the Bruins were able to keep him rested because they had a very good 1B. I don't know if you get the same Ullmark if he's working 60-65 games next season.

Similar thoughts with Carlo - trading him means that you're now pushing 34-year-old Kevin Shattenkirk into a top-4 role, and that one of Alec Regula/Ian Mitchell/Reilly Walsh is going to be playing every night at RD3.

That's why I don't think it lines up - sure, in theory, Boston has the assets that could get him, but do they actually *want* to give those assets up?

Depends on prices for UFA’s, BOS needs to do something this year or next, there’s nothing coming in the pipeline and they’re going to end up overpaying $$$ wise during FA next off season. And if the ask is Swayman for Schiefel or Carlo for Lindholm, I would think they would rather use one of those pieces on a younger center, even if he is unproven. And if lindholm ends up off the market I would rather make another hole to address in the off-season then sign Sphyilis to an overpaid and/or too long of a contract. Not saying he isn’t good, but he is 30 and probably wants 6 year or longer deal.

And IMO it shouldn’t cost either of those player to get a Sphyilis out of WPG or Lindholm out of CGY but hard saying right now I guess. I can see BOS starting the season with what they got and see how it goes but going to have to do something eventually and I would rather spend assets on a younger C that will last the entire time Pasta and McAvoy are here

I think Hayton too much. I think the more logical C to go after would be Geekie. Play him with his brother, and has the tools to be a BOS type PWF 1C. Obviously will cost a lot, but i feel they'd be better suited for the direction they need to head
