Nice. Lower the retain on EK65 to 30% and the Sharks would take it. And Pittsburgh would still be below the cap. Do you think Petry and Rust would waive for Chicago? Close to home for Petry. Just curious, why did you decide to move Rust? Why not Granlund instead?

I don't understand why Chicago would get a 1st round pick and two roster players for... nothing? Of course they accept that but I don't see anyone else doing it.

Its to hold cap for the teams. Give chicago the 1st to take the cap, weird because i think they would still say yes to it without the first rounder though

Yeah I mean I would certainly take Bryan Rust and Jeff Petry for nothing. They're very solid players still.

I mean it is 11 million in cap space, i know they dont need the space right now but its worse to have bad contracts. The most valuable thing is what Rust could bring for bedard from learning/play with crosby his whole career

The Hawks want to have vets that insulate their young players, but I can't see them having interest in this. The common denominator with all the vets they've brought in thus far is that they're all on short term deals. They don't have a need for Petry, but I think they would take him if they got a decent pick out of it. I don't think they'd be willing to take on Rust given that he has 5 years left on his deal, unless they had a deal in place to flip him. But if that were the case, the Pens probably just flip him to third team and cut out the middle man.
