Maybe at the deadline, but the Kings still need Lizotte at 4C.

That’s an easy “No” from the Sabres

Holding salary on Lyubushkin would essentially bring Grzelcyk’s Cap hit around $5mil
And there’s just no chance at all we’d be interested in that, even if we did want him- which i don’t think we necessarily do

I know these teams are most likely not going to trade these players it’s just someone Boston could target for Center

As a Sabres fan, I’d propose something like:

Mittelstadt & Jokiharju
for Carlo

That would strengthen the Sabres RD2
And give the Bruins a decent 4/5 defenseman Witt a legit Center talent who can certainly get the puck to Marchand & Pasternak

Sure but Hayton just had an excellent breakout year and Arizona is finally going to have center depth for the first time since the like 2001

Carlo is really good and under rated buffalo I think would have to give up more to get him but like the idea

Agree - and it also seems that the Sabres like to have Lyubushkin, Stillman and Jokiharju all on contracts that expire at the end of the coming season because it keeps a spot open for Ryan Johnson if he ends up being NHL-ready for 2024-25 as most think he will.

I guess, but i think you’re looking too deeply there
Trading away Lyubushkin also “opens up room” for Johnson

"Mittelstadt & Jokiharju for Carlo"
Carlo is right handed, Greatly Under-rated signed for the next four seasons at about the same as Samuelsson and would greatly improve the Sabres PK.
He would be a great addition to the line up.

Casey and Jokiharju are under-rated by Sabre ACGM's but are held in very high regard by Granato, in my book it is only his vote that counts.
Casey has 110 pts in his last 163 games, Newhook was traded for the 31st and 37th OA and has 63 pts in his last 153 games.
IMO Casey should have a value of at least a 1st and 2nd if not more, as he is signed for $400,000 less than Alex next season.
Jokiharju plays over 21 min/gm and when it became crunch time the last dozen games his ice time increased.
Young RHD who play 21 min/gm should have a value of a second round pick, maybe a bit more.
That makes the Sabre offer a first and two seconds, more than a fair price only if Sweeney wanted to part with Carlo.
The Bruins currently have 22 players signed with nearly $500,000 free space.
Carlo's cap hit is $4,100,000 while Casey and Henri combined at $5,000,000
Sweeney should consider that trade very carefully if not accept it.
I would never presume Henri would replace Brandon, but Buffalo probably would ask for something more in return as Boston is getting a center for Marchand and Pasternak as well a 24 yo RHD with five years of NHL experience.

Well that is my penny and a half.

Opps, I forgot, Buffalo says no to the trade above.
They are over crowded at LHD now, trading Lyubushkin leaves Buffalo with 6 LHD and only 3 RHD even though Buffalo gets the better defender.

Granato is NOT our GM, Adams is
I’m sure Granato has input, but I’m also sure the decisions are made by Adams
Seems like you’re giving Granato more power than he really has

As each man has acknowledged in different interviews, they each respect and value the opinions and recommendations of the other.

That said, Adams said after the TDL how Granato "pounded the table" in lobbying for the Greenway trade and Granato also told after the UFA signings how he identified Johnson and Clifton as guys he wanted Adams to get. The fact that Adams added the players Granato wanted shows that they both want and value the same things in players.

That may well be true
But the CONTEXT in which i made my statement was to gretzkyghosts saying “…Granato, by my book it is only his vote that counts”

CLEARLY, it is NOT ***only*** Granato’s vote that counts
Does he have input? Sure
Is he the ONLY one who has input?
No, that’s just wrong

And to your point,
I’m sure they don’t see EVERY player EXACTLY the same
That’s just not realistic

You are 100% correct the coach and GM work together or the system fails.
The bottom line, in normal circumstances, the coach will let the GM know who could help the team to win and the GM tries to fill the need.
Either with the exact player or a clone.
Or the GM may be aware of an unbelievable trade offer and he should either speak with the HC or know what the HC wants.
It would be irrisponcible for a GM to trade for or draft a player that the coach knows would not adjust to the current system or needs.

It is amazing that you are replying to a comment that was misquoting me.
"Casey and Jokiharju are under-rated by Sabre ACGM's but are held in very high regard by Granato, in my book it is only his vote that counts."
You can clearly see that my comment was in reference to other Sabre ACGM's evaluation of Casey and Jokiharju v Granato.
But unfortunately it was misunderstood.

No argument there - even Adams has admitted that his management and coaching staff don't always see eye to eye on things and he welcomes those disagreements for perspective. We've heard him often describe how he wants his analytics team to convince him of things that he doesn't think match up with the eye test. That said, I don't think Adams will trade for or add a player to the roster and force Granato to deal with making it work without first talking to Granato and hearing whatever concerns or issues the coach may have with an acquisition Adams wants to pursue.

Agree with all this
But again, the context in which i made my point was in response to the dumb comment where a poster said that “only Granato’s vote counts”

I can’t stress how stupid that is
Obviously they work together though, every GM & coach does (i would think)
