Admitting the Batherson case is different. But when a player is suspended, it' doesn't allow cap relief for the team.
The incident happened in 2018. You would think if any of the parties involved wanted a resolution to the case, it would have been settled by now....criminal charges or even civil litigation.

Per Article 50.10 (c) of the CBA, player suspended for off ice events do not count against the upper limit of the salary cap during the length of suspension. So Sens would get relief.

As for settlement, there was one. Victim initially went to cops. Cops half assed it. So she filed a civil suit against the players and Hockey Canada. HC settled for millions to sweep it under the rug. Media reports on it, cops re-open criminal investigation. Players can't "settle" criminal charges until they are charged.

Thanks for the "cap" clarification. I know players can't settle a criminal charge....but how many years does it take for the police to investigate?

I think Batherson agent commented that he was not involved. But at the time when Formenton was a Senators, he kept quiet and said nothing. Ottawa didn't want to extend him and they tried to trade him to Vegas but it didn't happen. Maybe they know something we don't

Yeah, maybe the cops "know" something put don't have evidence and won't/can't lay charges. You would think at sometime the investigation has to stop.

Don't you think if a player was innocent, and I don't mean in the legal sense, but he wasn't involved, he would have he have a civil lawsuit agains the woman and/or Hockey Canada to demanding they state publicly that the said player was not involved.,

There's no statute of limitations on SA cases, so as far as this case goes, it's open until it's shut. It's still under investigation, so we'll see what happens in due time.

Probably not, because the woman probably only knows the one person who orchestrated what happened and not every single individual that was involved.

this is beyond dead wrong, her FATHER went to Hockey canada and hockey canada when to the police, hockey canada also hired a 3rd party to investigate this, the so called "victim" REFUSED to cooperate with both the police and HC 3rd party investigation, thus the police closed the case because she did not cooperate with them. Neither the father or the so called "victim" EVER went to the police nor cooperated with investigation until they were most likely forced too by the settlement agreement. The reason there is little info on the current investigation is because the NHL must be extremely careful here because if they can be sued into oblivion by the real victims (the players).

batherson pretty much said no comment, he didnt deny anything while most of the team did deny

Ok so I’m looking back at that roster and there were 8 players that weren’t In Ontario back then : Makar Mete Fabbro Kyrou Gadjovich Point Foote Clague. So technically can’t be them because they weren’t there but we never know.
There are also 6 players communicating that they were NOT INVOLVED in the incident : Timmins Thomas Raddysh Steel Howden Comtois.
8 Players remaining on that roster and 8 players accused.
5 Players KEPT QUIET: Batherson Katchouk Formenton Michael McLeod Steenbergen.
There are also 3 players that commented «  WE DID NOT DO ANYTHING WRONG » Via agents: Dubé Bean Hart

Can't imagine why SA victims don't come forward with people who have perspectives like this.

So from Andy Strickland 5 Players are about to be suspended by the league. He just said it 1-2 hours ago. He added «  There are some big names »
