Leafs aren't trading a 1st for Petry. The 🌲 just re-signed Kampf. He's not trading him. Brodie isn't being traded. He'll be playing top pair with Rielly. Flyers turned down better offers for Laughton at the trade deadline. Liljegren is playing on a bargain contract so he won't be moved either.

Brodie is a huge part of why we lost in playoffs , if he is not gone the Leafs can enjoy another year with out a cup. He is the most important piece to get rid of after we got rid of Holl. Those 2 were the worst defense possible , so soft and terrible skaters and can not throw a hit to save their lives. There are plays in playoffs where Brodie stood like a pylon watching players pass him at our blue line , no effort no stick check, nothing he just did not react at all. Laughton is a much better version of Kampf , he can play two way while throwing 155 hits and got 43 points last season, so no brainer to add him as a 3rd C and Holmberg is a way cheaper version of Kampf for 4th C. If the Leafs can win the Cup this year it will help in every aspect of re-signing players and adding new players who will WANT to play and stay in TO.

Him and Holl were absolute garbage not to mention Giordano, so 3 of our defense were just plain wore out and outmatched all playoffs. Yes that is a very large part of why we lost, but also a lack of toughness. Can you honestly tell me Brodie is worth 5m? If he was a 2 m contract I still would not want him on my team. If you are an offensive defense then you can get away without hitting, but all14 points Brodie gets a year do not qualify as offensive. a defensive D man that can NOT hit is useless, especially when his defensive skills disappear in playoffs.

Replace Robertson with Voit or Fraser. He's too frequently injured to be worth much this offseason.
