Canes Leafs trades on this site have gotten so many button clicks they are out of calibration. Why would the Leafs do this? Canes take it probably, just doesn’t make sense.

Leafs need a long term top 2 defenceman who can play with Rielly and solidify the PK. I figured McCabe, Minten and a 1st would have been enough for that trade but added Amirov and a 5th for the cap retention. Steep price but Amirov may never come back after his illness.

Wow, a massive overpay by the Leafs in the Carolina, Calgary trades. Isles says no.

Leafs are no better this year with the Pesce, Dobson, Zaradov, and Lindholm over Brodie, Liljgrren, McCabe, Timmins and Nylander
Next season the Leafs don't have any of the new arrivals except Dobson. but they have lost Liljgren, McCabe, Timmins, Niemelam Minten and Hirovan, and a 1st.

This is crazy to me. Pesce is a top 10-15 defenceman in the league. Huge step up over Brodie. Lindholm mitigates the loss of Nylander, and Dobson and Zadorov are head and shoulders better than Lilejgren and Timmins. I'd take a top 4 of Rielly, Pesce, Dobson and Zadorov over Rielly, Brodie, McCabe and Klingberg 10/10 days.

You have failed to appreciate the element of time here. As the esteemed @palhal says, the problem here is that in 10 out of 10 months, you'll have none of these acquisitions except Dobson and you'll have burnt your bridge with Nylander. And that's entirely aside from the fact that NY wouldn't be adding a first to exchange four or more seasons of Dobson (probably 7 or 8) for one season of Nylander.

Except you're not getting Dobson. And as I pointed out above, it's way too much futures for Dobson. I know Leaf fans hate their own, but the Leafs allowed just 10 more goals against than Carolina and had better GAA than Calgary. And by your lineup is Pesce/Zardosv, and Caleb Jones (no takers when he was waived by Hawks) better than Brodie, Liljegren and Timmins.?

There is no real reason for the Flyers to trade for Lafferty.
