Are they better than the panthers or Sabres? Even that I’m not sure. If they don’t edge the rangers for 3rd , they prob miss the playoffs

I have Florida and Buffalo rated over Pittsburgh. Panthers just need to tread water until their big guys return from injury. And Bob plays like Playoff Bob again.

Sabres have everything going for them. They'll keep scoring a ton of goals but they need to do a better job at keeping pucks out of the net.

I believe Levi is legit but if he isn't NHL ready then things could go south fast. I'm not a fan of UPL.

I am not so sure about that

I have the Pens at 10th in the east. I think 5 Atlantic teams make the playoffs

I wouldn't say that. Sens are better in my opinion.

Boston is a ❓mark at forward but their D and G is still very good. I can't count them out.

I don’t think Columbus is last I think they’re way better than that. But I totally agree about who’s not in the race

Well I think Florida and Boston battle it out for the last spot. Florida’s D looks horrendous to start the year

I feel bad for Detroit. They sign all these UFA's the past 2 years and they're still probably not going to make the playoffs. I know Yzerman is going with placeholders until his kids are ready. But that's a lot of money to spend to miss the playoffs.

Yeah I picked Boston to miss the playoffs last year with their injuries to start the season. Oops! My Bruins fan buddy still reminds me. Hehe

Teams that want to make the playoffs don’t move Hronek and replace with Holl and Ghost. And they don’t move Bertuzzi and replace with Compher.

Yzerman has paid a bunch of 3rd liners with 1 career yesr putting up 2nd line production in Compher and Copp. And Husso of 1 career year. And Locked up players with major weakenesses to term in Holl and Chiarot.

Like sorry but he was never building a playoff team. He signed all those guys to give the young players toughness but this teams playoffs window doesn’t open for at least a couple more years

Red Wings success or failure will depend on how their prospects develop. They have young Seider but lack a Timmy Stutzle. A young C who can get the fanbase fired up. Who they can build around.

I just don't know how high end their prospects are. When most of these guy's are NHL ready Larkin will be starting his regression. It's hard to see it all coming together for Detroit right now.

And maybe Yzerman will go the solid depth route. 4 lines and 3 D pairs of very good to good prospects. I don't know. There's more than 1 way to build a contender.

Yzerman certainly knows a hell of a lot more than I do. Hehe

Yeah the last few years I’ve been looking at Detroit and I was like they lack true 1st line guys. They lack star power. Raymond had a disappointing season but guys like Raymond, Edvinsson, Cossa NEED TO become elite. Guys like Kasper, Danielson etc I’ve always thought would be 2C level player . Good 2 way guys with 50-60pt potential. I’m def a fan of Mazur , Berggren, ASP and Wallinder tho comjng up. Augustine is great too

That's what I mean. Some very good prospects in Detroit. Maybe it'll be death by a thousand paper cuts?

But I always tell my Red Wings buddies this...

It's great to have prospects you're excited about. But it's unrealistic to think they'll all pan out and become NHLers or even good or very good NHLers.

Yzerman should be able to hit on more than a few of them. It's just a matter if they'll be stars or just decent NHLers. I really like Mazur. 😁

If they do pan out the D is looking good with:
Wallinder-Seider
Edvinsson-ASP
Walman-Johansson

I don’t think Debrincat is a TRUE 1st liner either. I had high hopes when he came in but he never quite lived up to it.
