Would either team do one of these deals

Created by: alwaysnextyear
Team: 2023-24 Vancouver Canucks
Initial Creation Date: Aug. 13, 2023

Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
CBJ has made a bunch of moves to try to get better this season, but they also have a glut of Dmen so moving one could make sense if the price is right. Most assume that Peeke is the guy to go, but Boqvist would get a better trade return.

Trade Option 1;
CBJ get a 2nd, a Dman prospect and a pending UFA forward that can help them this year and/or be dealt for another pick.

Trade Option 2;
CBJ get an unprotected 2024 1st but also take on Pearson's contract for the year.

VAN would hope that Boqvist could turn into a long-term piece on the blue line, likely 2nd pair.

Would either team consider doing these deals?

      The Canucks definitely don’t trade a 1st for Boqvist. I don’t think they’d do the first trade either. He’d be stuck on the 3rd pair since he’s not the type of dman we want to play with Hughes and Hronek has the 2nd pair spot locked down

      Adding to that Boqvist hasn’t progressed as well as hoped. I’d see CBJ keeping him & let him develop more.

      It they were to get him he may start out on the 3rd pair, but I think the hope would be that he could develop into a solid 2nd pairing guy. Hronek could pair with Hughes and have them play big minutes.

      Jackets I don’t think would have much interest in the first deal but I think would do the second deal as the Canucks are a petey injury away from another top 5-10 pick

      Yes he could POSSIBLY develop into a solid top 4 but the price is still highly speculative.

      It’s moot on what CBJ would take. Boqvist is still young but hasn’t done enough to warrant either offer. The Canucks won’t offer up either trade. Many teams would plummet with a key injury to their top player.

      It is, which is why I'd probably only be willing to make the first trade option.

      First one is more viable but everything out of the Vancouver market has Peeke in this trade setup than Boqvist which would probably be more in line with what y'all are looking for. A 3rd paring Dman who knows how to take blocked shots and can move up to play decent in the 2 or even 1st line shifts if needed due to injuries.
