Seems like a massive overpay for hanifin

I don't get the constant Vladar to Buffalo, or by that token Petry to Buffalo trades. Buffalo has 3 goalies, and 9 Dmen with only 1 goalie (Levi) being waiver eligible. They are not taking on yet another goalie who isn't a significant upgrade over what they already have. No issue with the value, they simply don't have room for him.

I think you nailed it with "isn't a significant upgrade". The cost to acquire is pretty reasonable, if the front office really thinks he has more ability than comrie, I would give them the benefit of the doubt. I would hope they would aim higher though if they are gonna bother addressing the goalie(s) behind Levi.

Wouldn’t move Bichsel or Kyrou for Hanifin. And Calgary would have to take salary back in the deal as Dallas is completely up against the cap

If the kids fail, & the Sabres trade for a goalie at the deadline,
it’ll be for someone A LOT better than Vladar, who just isn’t good at all

Canes pass. Can't take on that money. If you retain half and make it the Canes pick (you're not getting what will basically be a 1st rounder for Backlund) it's a lot better

Retention on Z would have to be half to make it work IMO
