Addison is significantly better than Burroughs and a 4th isn't close to making up the difference. Yeah Burroughs is probably better defensively, but Addison is way better offensively and a lot younger.

This. Burroughs has exceeded ALL expectations by becoming a fairly reliable 3rd pairing D-man on about 75% of teams. But his ceiling is very much set in place. Addison could end up becoming the next Will Butcher and fizzle out, but his ceiling has yet to be discovered. And from what I saw in limited viewing of Minny games last year, Addison is going to be MUCH better than Burroughs.

The only problem with this is how much does Minnesota trust in Addison's development? He was knocked out of the 2RD and 3RD spots by Klingberg and a literal rookie coming out of college (who looked pretty good). Addison can move the puck up the ice but is a defensive catastrophe, and the wild like defensive players.

You're right in that they may try to sign and keep him but I can't imagine his price is at all that high. Burroughs is cheap and is more their type of guy. San Jose needs a puck mover and somebody to replace EK on the powerplay.

I think my perspective here is that you can work on getting more out of Addison if you're Minnesota, but I don't know if Burroughs is even in your top 6 after this year with their cap flexibility opening back up. Again, I still don't think Burroughs is a top 6 guy on any truly contending team. If you told me Burroughs was coming back to CO right now, I would still probably hope he splits time with Jack Johnson as that 6th d-man. My perspective as an Avs fan is DEFINITELY skewed when it comes to Burroughs because he was such a fringe guy for us before finding somewhat of a footing in Vancouver. But again, he's only found footing on some pretty terrible teams.

We don’t want Burroughs. We have enough of his type of player.

JJ is a literal non factor out there. The only reason he keeps resigning is because he's loved in the locker room and with management.

Yeah he's a worse version of Brodin and a younger version of Middleton.

Don't disagree. Not sure if Burroughs is much more of a factor than JJ.......just my opinion.

Brother, Addison was knocked out of the lineup by Klingberg and Faber. This was also his first “full” season where he was finally trusted to make the full time roster… and then was bumped back out.

If you don’t wanna trade him cool, it’s all hypotheticals anyway.

SJS has no puck movement and they can take advantage his low price considering he lost his spot in the lineup to a rookie from college.

Coulda came in this thread without being snarky. Enjoy mediocrity.

What, that both teams have been mediocre for their entire existence? Sure. No arguments here.

But you're reaching and showing your desperation if you're going to call Addison a bust. C'mon dude. That kid has absolutely shown he's capable of hitting his potential of being an offensive minded 2nd pairing defenseman.

Just because he isn't likely a fit in Minnesota long-term doesn't mean his value magically drops. The same could be said just because he was replaced by the other two too.

Of course Guerin is going to acquire the older more experienced player and play him when he only needs to pay that little to acquire him.

And Faber isn't just some kid coming out of college. He's the reigning two-time defensive player of year, and one of the best defensive prospects in the league. He's been expected to make the NHL and play in the top-four from the get go. He's on another level.

Addison's reported value and asking price to acquire him was a 2nd in this years draft. Which is equal to a late 1st in most drafts. That package falls far short of that. There is no *buy low* option to acquire him. He may not be a fit long-term, but Guerin doesn't have to move him if he doesn't get his asking price.

Cool. It just shows your organizations distrust in him when it took him this long to crack a full time roster spot, only to be knocked out of the 2RD by Klingberg and the 3RD by Faber.

I’d like to think being a healthy scratch in this position drops his value. If your GM is “reportedly” asking for a 2nd, keep him. I don’t see his value being any higher or even at the same value as Durzi (who’s marginally better).

I originally had created this trade because SJS has no puck movement on the back end, and Addison could be a cheap option to give them that. If Minnesota fans are still super picky and want a big package, I wont even bother touching him in future ACGM’s, considering it caused THIS much discourse.
