In a hypothetical world where the isles r out of the playoffs and willing to rebuild them Nelson would fetch at minimum what Ryan O’Reilly fetched last year. I don’t see either scenario as very likely tho given the importance of having a strong defense and goaltending to a teams success.

Loads of salary retained in that deal which also included Acciari... The 1st in the O'reilly deal was also a late 1st, while Ostlund was picked @ 16 and will be closer to NHL ready than a 2024 1st would be - he would also have 3 years at an ELC as it slides while he's in Europe...

If it was Ostlund + a late first I’d get it, but you actually asked for a second in this deal. Also Ostlund might have been taken too high….

Brock Nelson had 36 goals and 75 points last year and has term

Oreilly had 12 goals and 19 points when he was traded, had no term and was coming off an injury in season

I doubt Lou would trade for rebuild. He will most likely triple down on his current roster, by trading future assets
