3 ELCs MAX. (Power, Beniers, Seider)

Used to have Cirelli, but opted for Giroux / C. Brown instead to provide that defensive/responsible presence. Have Wheeler as a veteran presence who can slot higher in the line-up in case of an injury or if something isn't clicking. Laughton and Kampf on the 4th line helps provide good defensive coverage, with Wheeler providing a scoring threat as well. Originally had Toffoli and D. Ryan (as a scratch), but opted for Bertuzzi to make sure this team still had a bit of a bite.

I am a Senators fan, but the players from them I picked are still good. I originally had Joseph over Laughton, and still stand by that decision, but switched them to avoid an overwhelming bias.

Replace Sanderson with Power or Seider, Giroux with Domi and then use the remaining cap space to upgrade Lindell to Rielly and Larsson to Lindholm and replace Chychrun with Pesce... Then, replace PLD with Suzuki and replace Hart with Swayman

Agreed. Did that, just need to wait for it to update.

Seider EASILY. Power and Sanderson are closer then most people think. Laughton is also the correct choice. Only finishing -9 on that brutal philly team and putting up 50 points is good for a fourth line player

Also Thompson isn't on a ELC

With Thompson not on an ELC, I can now have both Power and Seider!

I agree Sanderson and Power are very close; I think it gets muddled since Sanderson was stuck with a defensive albatross in OTT whereas Power was a highly touted 1st OVR pick. Plus Power's name is rad.

I'm biased but Hertl > Horvat & PLD

Horvat = 79GP, 38G, 32A, 70PTS, -1 +/-
PLD = 73 GP, 27G, 36A, 63PTS, +5 +/-
Hertl = 79GP, 22G, 41A, 63PTS, -36 +/-

Considering SJS sucked, I'd say they're all pretty comparable and if Hertl had better wingers he could be far better. Splitting hairs and since I don't really watch USA teams I'm not sure about Hertl, but I like Horvat's two-way play and PLD has a bit of a physical edge to him. Also, Horvat played most of the season with VAN, who were also trash.

Horvat maybe PLD no shot, 4 years younger and way better defender too. Same point totals, PLD in less games with more goals and a better +/-. Gotta be a biased take

Horvat dropped off of a cliff when he got to the NYI, if he played all season in NYI the way he did he would've had 44 points in 82 games barely over 0.5 ppg. Taking either one over him

Honestly, fair; if Horvat played that way all year we'd be having a way different conversation. However, I think part of the reason why he was succeeding in VAN rather than NYI was the fact that he wasn't carrying the entire load, so to speak, in VAN. He had more offensively-minded players (Petterson, Miller, Kuzmenko, Hughes) in VAN rather than NYI (Barzal was out a lot so he played with Lee, Engavall, Palmeri) and put up more points accordingly. With McCann and Bertuzzi, I think he'll thrive and we'd see the VAN Horvat, not the NYI Horvat. Plus, even if we do see that regression, I feel more comfortable with his two-way play at the moment, but, again, I don't watch SJS so if Hertl isn't as bad for that as his stats seem I can be convinced.

I mean if you're building a team for the long-haul sure. But Hertl is a playoff beast. If you want to win now personally I'd go with him. Also if you watch Hertl you know he's incredible defensively and a fantastic penalty killer.

PLD could be elite imo but is really inconsistent and is either the most competitive player on the ice or the least.

NYI worse than Van they just have Sorokin to keep them in games

Yeah consistency has been his biggest downfall, should see how he is now that he has a big deal and not leaving there so he should be better

I'm sorry... did you say you removed Cirelli to bring in Connor Brown because defensive presence????

I cannot possibly have read that correctly.

Yup, you did! ... Well, sort of.

I originally had Cirelli as 2LW, but dropped to 3LW to better fit the imagined role of the 2nd and 3rd lines (scoring for 2nd line, two-way play with an upside for 3rd line). Ultimately decided to go with Giroux / C. Brown as the wingers on that third line since they've both performed admirably with OTT in a similar type role. TBL players get bolstered by their stellar goaltending and defense, so I take their stats with a grain of salt. Plus, Giroux has better offensive numbers. With Giroux being seen as the replacement for Cirelli, I also opted for C. Brown and felt fine with those players to fill that line's role instead of Cirelli.
