I'd rather keep Tippett. The value is near but I just don't see us moving Tip after his breakout season for what equates to a good prospect, a veteran roster filler, a late 1st, and a 2nd the following year.

I don't like the Philly deal, I'm always very wary of players coming off a big year. There are reasons to believe its unsustainable with Tippett. There's better lower cost options IMO

Are you serious, a max retained Backlund for a 2nd and Drury out of all prospects? Why in the world would Calgary sell low on Backlund, he's fairly popular there from what I gather.

He's 34, reportedly wants out, a UFA at seasons end, and Calgary's center depth if he and Lindholm leave is really awful. Drury has 3C upside, with a borderline 2C skillset. That plus a 2nd is probably enough, no need to go over the top with it, especially not including someone like Koivunen. A lot of the Flames fans on this site seem to think it's a fair price for him as it is, with multiple Flames ACGM's dawning the deal. I love Mikael Backlund, but he's not worth a lot more than that
