      So...to compensate Chicago for retaining half of Pesce's contract you give them an additional cap dump?

      could easily flip foeg at half retained to a contender who needs a big body for a 3rd round pick

      then why havent the oilers been able to do that this offseason. hawks decline.

      Hawks decline. They don't want or need Foegele. With the retention, that makes him a $4.7m player for the Hawks this season. He's not worth anything close to that. If the Oilers want the Hawks to eat $4.7m in cap hit for them, change that 4th to a 1st.

      Hawks have two retention slots left. So use one on Pesce and one on Foegele and end up with a 3rd and a 4th? Yeah, thanks but no thanks. Rather use those retention slots on Hawks own expiring contracts.
