He's definitely the bottom of the barrel for TO right now. On the left side anyways.

Gio at most should play 40 games and if needed is healthy and rested for the playoffs. Timmins might be a everyday player, he definitely puts up points when in the lineup.

Can Liljegren play 1RD? Is he a good partner for Reilly? Thats a second pairing of UFAs who probably are both gone at the end of the year. Timmins is very weak defensively, but that whole Right defense looks pretty weak defensively for a coach who played defensive RDs Holl and Schenn alot of minutes. The defense looks pretty meh, you've got 18 skaters, and a 4th line that may collectively only put up 20 pts.

Just dont know in a year with this many UFAs on the team that you go in with so little depth, and such a questionable defense, and few picks/prospects/cap space to fix anything.

In camp if Timmins cant play defense, I think you send him down/trade him and roll out giordano and Benoit at 3LD and 7th dman, put brodie back at 1RD, McCabe-Liljegren at 2nd pairing, and then lafferty or jarnkrot have to go. That defense is too suspect especially behind a goalie with so little NHL experience and a Samsonov who through his career has been a tad unreliable.

Honestly, from a lefty/right mix, I'd kind of like Gio on the team. Would allow Brodie to play with Reilly.

But Timmons would definitely be claimed, and I think it's short sighted to waive him.

Yeah, I really wish Klingberg money was spent on a better defensive D. I don't fully understand the vision in the mix here without a trade.

Problem I ran into when looking at it, was to have Brodie with Reilly; than you'd have to waive Timmons because you'd need Gio as 3LD.

Klingberg I'm not putting with Reilly, Seems like a lot for Timmons.

I am higher on Lilly than probably most, I don't think it's ideal, but bi think it's the best option available I guess.
