MTL trade

Description
Would the Habs pass up a 2nd rounder to add only $1.45m in cap for one year? MTL fans on here have said the team won't be adding any cap to the roster but they do have a ton of it with Price on LTIR.

It's a steep price for VAN but it solves both the cap space and backup goalie issues for the year. Martin isn't a reliable backup and Silovs needs to get games in the AHL.

The other variable is if Allvin still has a Myers trade option up his sleeve, but I feel like it would've happened already if he did.

I'd make the trade personally but, Habs have a lot of forwards on the roster and might want to avoid the headache of whoever gets waived complaining 24\7

There are bigger problems than a player complaining being the AHL because they aren't good enough to make the big roster. Pearson may even be the guy sent down in this case.

Not saying it's a big problem but, in MTL where the media only talks hockey it can be an unnecessary headache.
Most teams in similar situations end up trading that player with half the salary retained anyway

MTL could only do this after the season starts, they need to try to get Price not on LTIR until the season starts and then they'll place him there to maximize the cap savings

Like it was mentioned before, Montreal only do that if the season starts. And tou can downgrade the pick to a third easily

Mtl could be interested and Pearson could be traded at tdl if Mtl are not a playoff contender. Retained salary is also a possibility tdl.

Waiting until the season starts would be fine.
