If Jones can play 2nd pair, he can stay in Anaheim.

Not sure why Anaheim voluntarily gets older, smaller, gives up team control, AND gives up the pick. Just no benefit in it for us.

This makes no sense for ANA at all.

They can’t fit any more undersized dmen. As evidenced by the kinds of guys they’ve targeted (Gudas, Lyub). Brainstorm is right at that line, not a good fit.

Kubalik is fine, we’ll give a mid pick for him, but absolutely not young players like Jones or Lacombe. Ducks are rebuilding, those are exactly the pieces they want to add, not move away

Brannstrom turned 24 last week, LaCombe is going on 23. Kubalik is 27, Jones is 25

Ducks get by far the better players here

It only makes sense for Ottawa because they'd create cap space and that 3rd pick is a compensation for losing on players value

All that said, no problem is this isn't a good fit for Anaheim

Personally, all these ACGMs are too much, I'd trade Kubalik for a pick (even using a bit of retention if necessary) and call it a day

That got me curious... do they plan to play Jones on defense or what?

Brannstrom’s age is irrelevant due to his size, which precludes him from being seen as a fit for ANA. We already have Drys at RD and Zell coming up at LD as undersized guys. That’s 2 D lines guaranteed to have an undersized Dman. Brann is too small to pair with either. He’s not of interest even if he’s more valuable, he just doesn’t fit with the team’s core.

Agreed on the final point, happy to send a pick for a vet 2nd pair LD. Frankly would prefer a bigger, more physical Dman to pair with Drys though[/quote]

Sorry but this is the first time I read something like "his age is irrelevant due to his size". I have no idea how the 2 factors could be related

But I forgot to mention that I was specifically talking about value, I agreed that it might not fit Anaheim's plans/needs. I personally would make that trade as Anaheim GM and sell the 2 new players for better returns when the timing is right (Kubalik at the deadline, Brannstrom next offseason or next season)

Not sure what you mean here, Kubalik is a forward not a LD

You argued his age makes him a fit for a rebuilding team. I argued his age is irrelevant because his size precludes him from being that fit.

Second point was off. Mixing up ACGMs from a Kulak offer, my b
