Remove the retention, Kylington, and the picks then we can talk. As it sits right now this trade is terrible for the Flames

Except there'd be no talking as without retention nothing would happen. Not saying it's fair to the Flames, just there'd be no discussion to be had.

With Francouz on LTIR you have ~2.5M LTIR space to work with. What am I missing here? Do you really value a 3rd healthy scratch more than a competent 1B?

IF Frankie goes to LTIR. They have that space and then they have to re-activate him. Pointless givng up any kind of assets when they can give Annunen some experience which is what I believe they will do and maybe pick a guy up on waivers if they can. So yeah I think the Avs and myself value the 3rd healthy scratch more, though I'd also argue the 'competent 1B' as well with regards to Vladar.

You are assuming he even comes off LTIR.

You are also assuming he goes on it. Let's see if that happens first before we think about whether or not he comes off something he isn't even on yet. It likely will but it's not guaranteed.

I think my assumption has logic to it.
Colorado is reporting to be goalie shopping. If Colorado thought Francouz would only be be missing 2-3 months they would just play Annunen. The Avs play 22-37 games in that 2-3 month period so you are probably looking about about 7-12 starts from Annunen in that time (~33% of starts). That is very manageable for them.

So my logic is that since they are shopping they are probably looking for someone to play at least 20-35 games reliably. Meaning the timeline for Francouz return is probably more along the lines 5-6 months or maybe even indefinitely looking at the Avs schedule thats somewhere from game 70 onward. Obviously the info on his return has not been announced so they are likely going to reevaluate him sometime in the next couple weeks and determine how long they need a replacement for

At this point, Frankie is a 33-year old goalie who didn't get to the league until he was 29. He has done VERY well for himself, but even if the injury is a 2-3 month thing the Avs need to look at the future. Annunen is the best goalie prospect we've had in a hot minute, so it really comes down to how they want to groom him. Do they want him to get more starts in the A, or learn from Georgie? That's what will dictate how we approach this. But the more I read Evan Rawal's article, the more I think that we are likely looking at a trade soon. Vladar makes the most sense, but his salary will only fit if we LTIR Franky. And I'm going to be the petulant child that says if Matt Murray gets to ride the LTIR, so does Pavel Francouz lol.

You can assume that you're being logical and so can I, it's all assumption. Colorado isn't reporting that they're goalie shopping, reporters are reporting that they believe it to be the case. So basically not reporting anything in that instance just making up rumours as they do. As far as I'm aware nobody within the organisation has said they are shopping for one. I'll wait and see what actually happens.

Sounds like halak has signed as the back up. Considering if they put frankie on LTIR, that could help get a 6th/7th dmen

I'll be VERY interested to see if they LTIR Frankie. I saw the Halak reports just now. I don't hate that idea. Looks like we are going to give Annunen more time in the A. Which I agree with. He needs to prove himself as a full-time starter in Loveland.
