Description

Based on Friedman's reporting where potentially if OTT was put in a position where they feel inclined to move Pinto (NOT saying he wants a trade or that the team wants to trade him), OTT would look to move him and one other player with cap and term to clear out space, while still remaining as much if not more competitive than they would otherwise be. This option gives CAR a guy with minimum 20 goal production who could develop into a true 2nd line center, while giving OTT the best current player in the deal in TT and a bottom 6 center in Drury who gives them good, young NHL depth, while also alleviating some cap concerns as well.

I don't think Drury beats out Kastelic, he's more 14th-17th forward, a reinforcement for Belleville.

I think there's a pretty good chance Ottawa is on Teravainen's 10 team no-trade list too....

but with the 1st this isn't unreasonable.

OP said in his description - realizing that Ottawa isn't looking to move Pinto, but looking to sign him - but this is something that COULD work if they move on to trading him. The problem is Drury is nothing and adding Teravainen gives them half of their top 6 on expiring contracts...... value is there, but it doesn't match what Ottawa needs beyond this season unless you think Carolina is going to blow up and they're willing to trade the 1st unprotected.

Teräväinen is UFA to be, Joseph replaces his cap hit this year and the next 2 seasons, they have a solid defensive forward and PK specialist

The genius CF collective hive mind has made Joseph as a terrible player while he's not. Look at EV Defense and PK percentiles, that's the player he is.

They are getting Pinto as a compensation for downgrading an UFA to be to Joseph and that 1st round pick. Drop Drury if you want, he's not needed

Yeah Kastelic is 100% on the team. Not his only strength but he was Top-15 in FO% last season, as a rookie.
