There’s still some problems with the team that just make me not believe in them anymore. The biggest problem being Binnington. He’s Matt Murray 2.0 except worse and unfortunately the Blues have him for another 4 seasons.
Honestly i think they have a solid forward core and decent blueline. They have the lineup to be competitive but it all falls on Binnington and just goaltending altogether. I feel like the players will bounce back nicely but not goalies. It’ll really kill them down the line.
Uhh no. You clearly never watch the Blues play. Binnington was damn near the last of their problems last season. If not for him, they might have had a chance to get Bedard.
Personally I don’t even believe in goaltending anymore, just need a hot hand at the right time. This team’s problem is the gang of 6.5m aav players that aren’t going to get any better and are signed for another eternity. Maybe there will be some improvement on the blue line and special teams thanks to new ACs but I wouldn’t put high expectations on them for a couple years at least - the only thing they got going for them is most of the other central teams are stuck in a similar mediocrity.
They have a majority of their cap tied to 30+ players signed for 3 years or more…and few high end prospects. I think ‘mediocrity’ would be their enemy. They may be better off in long-run if they tank for a year or two, gets some guys who can help while Thomas and Kyrou are still in their prime. Adding more Hayes, Leddy types is probably not the right recipe.
I think the Blues have a pretty solid forward group actually but that defense is patchy, if Binnington can get dialed in he's good, will be watching to see how Hofer does this season.
Goaltending was quite literally the only highlight last year
It’s our defence that all collectively decided to stop playing defense. We need Krug and leddy moved and to bring in the young guys we have to play well

Is Krug a dump at this point or is it just a log jam at LD?

The Blues don't tank, man. Leddy was a gruesome mistake in trade and especially re-signing. Hayes is more than fine for what he costs and could easily be moved anyway. The biggest problem last year was they did not play the system. And Leddy. Always Leddy.

I am not saying they will tank....I am saying the should tank.

Hard to say really, he’s still good and can provide a lot but doesn’t provide what the blues need, I’d say he’s still a postive asset that can get an ok return for a team that needs him
No, they shouldn't. Most of what ails them can be corrected. Except Leddy. He should be in a fish tank. Elsewhere. Is that what you meant by tank?
They have lost Pietrangelo, Tarasenko, Perron, O’Reilly, Barbashev, Schwartz, Dunn, Maroon, Bozak, Steen, Bouwmeester since their cup….their entire blueline is overpaid and 30+….as is Schenn, Hayes, Saad, Binnington. They just finished 15 points out of a wild card and are moving in wrong direction. The prospect pool is mediocre and lacks any top guys.

Not sure there is a team more in need of a tank.
What are you babbling about??? The prospect pool is weak??? No top guys??? This from the guy who imagines Casey and Gritsyuk are blue chippers. Faulk is overpaid? Schenn? The team most in need of a tank??? Good grief. Lots of good teams have bad years. You don't know anywhere near as much about that team as you pretend to. You sound like Dom, to be frank.
