Either Chycrun or Zub or neither Cap Fix for both

Team: 2023-24 Toronto Maple Leafs
Initial Creation Date: Oct. 1, 2023
Published: Oct. 1, 2023
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
So this trade could work in value quite close except retention on Zub would cost more. This would be to help both teams with cap. Then OTT can offer Pinto 2.2 M with Brodie retained to 2.5M. I think both could fit as partner for Rielly in a different way. Then TML do not have to remove any one from roster that isn't waiver exempt.

Ott has gone way past the solid stage, it is currently running down their leg. They just gave away a 1st round pick on waivers and you think they have a clue lol. Here I thought TML mangement was the only 1 that sucked . If it was a MINOR cap crunch why they let 19th overall just walk on waivers , they can't even afford a minor contract ?

Who, Lassi Thompson? Guy had like no value lmao

For sure Brodie is solid, but Chychrun is also a hometown kid and honestly think he is absolutely thrilled being in Ottawa. Think they’d look at moving Zub before Chychrun, although I still think they’d rather just package whatever with one of those other 3 and just get Pinto signed! At least that’s what I’d do lol

Hometown kid? Chychrun is born and raised in Florida

Family lives in Ottawa region, he’s a dual citizen. Spent summers and some holidays in the Ottawa area and his grandparents live there. Trained in the summers there. I guess not really “hometown kid” but rather has ties to the area. Spent a lot of time there, skating lessons etc.

Lol Lassi Thomson had no shot of making this team, who cares where he was picked? It also has nothing to do with their cap at all? He wasn't good enough to waste a roster spot on lmao

Im not the idiot that got your team in cap trouble with Pinto and trying to lowball him with a 1m offer. If Ott would rather not have cap room to sign Pinto and lose him go ahead , being dumb cost s a price!

Yeah but your proposed deal in this ACGM would make him a much bigger idiot, like by a lot

As a TML fan I can feel OTT pain . The reason the Canadian teams have not won a cup in a while is they seem to be very mis managed. Getting to the point I cheer for ANY Canadian team lol.

So your solution is an even bigger mismanagement from Ottawa?

For sure Brodie is solid, but Chychrun is also a hometown kid and honestly think he is absolutely thrilled being in Ottawa.

Brodie is also EIGHT (8) years older... the difference in value between the 2 is HUGE...

Proposing 3rd, 4th and 5th round picks for that difference is lower than a LOWBALL. Then you have the 2.3 retention on Chychrun, this proposal is ridiculous no matter how you slice it (not saying you do)

Fringe NHL players have no value at this moment of the year because all teams have non-waivers exempt players. That's why you should absolutely have PLANNED to find a way to keep a guy that just turned 23 y/o last week.

Lassi Thomson got picked up by the team who had the FIRST choice. Plenty of teams would have picked him up, this is literally a freebie from Ottawa. Dorion is the worst GM in the NHL (for a million reasons), he signed Hamonic on a 2 years deal with a NMC which actually BLOCKED Thomson to a NHL path. We could have had the luxury to carry Thomson on the NHL roster and rotate him with JBD (and sit Hamonic) but the cap situation just doesn't allow it because of Dorion perpetual mismanagement (we have 5 M$ in DEAD cap)

Regardless of all the stupid comments, throwing away 1st and 2nd round picks will bite you in the arse . trust me I have seen TML do it for 45 years.
If you can't keep the young talent to see if they improve it is just ruining the team and any chances of winning a cup.
