Because even if the trade did go through (I'd say you need to at least add a 2nd rounder IMO), Drysdale probably gets a contract closer to 3mil and won't fit under your cap

You're talking about a 6OA selection coming off his ELC who has looked good at the NHL level.

A future late 1st and a bottom pair defenseman is no where near getting it done.
