For once I agree with you. Garland would fit nicely with the other bad contracts Chevy has given out. Yes Scheif and Helle are worth those contracts now but in a couple of years they are going to be bad. Just like Wheeler's contract.

Not necessarily. Boqvist will get the better return, but yeah one will likely be traded. Garland is just not a return we would be interested in. His term is too long and we have young guys that need to be re-signed in that time. The only player that makes sense for the Jackets to trade for Garland is Gudbranson because they are on similar contracts

Detroit is not trading a RD when they only have three of them capable of playing in the NHL. Also Garland would be behind both Perron and Raymond (and maybe even Sprong) on the depth chart so we don't want three years of him at that salary.
