NYR would rather buyout Goodrow and gain some cap credit from it, rather then sending our most enticing prospect to a division rival

Othmann isn’t getting moved for someone who’d be a #6 d man for us. We can buyout Goodrow instead and resign Gustafson or Zac Jones.

Only in buyout window, which is gone until next pre season. This would be done near or at TDL to enable NYR to make TDL moves.

Or instead of othmann, say Laf is having a pedestrian season, we'll take Laf and Goodrow for Seeler and 2024 FLA 1st

Buyout window is closed, you can buyout Goodrow next off season but it doesn;t open up cap space this season. Make it one of the underachievers, if they are, lafreniere or kakko then, and flyers will add 2024 FLA 1st, which can be used at TDL for NYR.

yea....gustafson is actually a solid dman on the third pair with the capability to play 2nd pair if there is an injury....

Hes been anything but solid defensively his whole career, but hes a nice pt producer. I just dont think hes a good bet for extended time in top 2 pairing role and not a good playoff guy, as evidenced by his presence on the bench for MTL and TOR in the playoffs.

Still going to be a no. Othmann more than likely serves as an internal call up/ mid season acquisition. While overpaid Goodrow still serves a purpose and still brings around 30 points to the bottom six. You haven’t addressed any needs and created a trade that hurts our depth.

No thanks on Goodrow unless we are immediately buying him out which would also suck and isn’t worth what we are getting back. The other trades I guess are fine.

Well, in the real world is that Ottawa doesn't have to trade Kubalik to Philadelphia... if Samoskevich could be had for Kubalik (which I don't believe), then they would just deal directly with the Panthers....
