Probably have to pay more to let go of Mantha. Magnussen feels like a guy they'll end up sending to a team like Chicago to retain in a Kuznetsov trade. I like him a decent bit but staying in reality I don't think he's anything more than AJF at the very most.

Im actually surprised a MTL deal for Mantha hasn't happened yet. Mantha to MTL makes so much sense. There has to be a trade that works for both sides there.

The way I see it, Tanner Pearson would be the only player the Habs have that would fit the bill however. So at best you are looking at a Pearson for Mantha 1 vs 1 deal. Otherwise Habs would have to offer a player with more years instead. Actually, Im sure if Wash retained 50% on Mantha, they could make something work with a team. If not, it'll cost more than Magnusson and a 4th to dump all 5.7M in cap straight up. Not sure Anaheim is interested in taking an additional 6.5M in actual salary this year to be honest and there are only a handful of teams that can make the cap work for Mantha.

This may be one of the worst years in recent history for a team trying to dump cap. IMHO Washington should just keep Mantha and wait till the TDL where they can retain 50% and potentially get a 3rd team involved to retain more.

Yeah, that's a lot of Cap, and even more money to eat to take a flyer on a prospect. Our cap space is for sale, but it's not at dollar tree.
