Saros is worth more than a late 1st. That much retention for this season and next will cost more than a 4th. Samsonov is just an unwanted cap hit for NSH. It's not a good offer.

So it is a ufa goalie with a very checkered performance history, a late 1st, and a 4th for saros at 3M which is one of the best deals in goaltending and a late 1st isnt gonna cut it.

They can still get a second for samsonov and if they need they can get someone else to retain
