Description

Caniac555 had this as a 3-way trade with NSH in their post. But I was thinking if the Canes were willing to give up this package, would VAN not consider just retaining more on Garland and making the deal directly?

It may be too much to retain for 3 years, but I think if they're considering retaining any amount for that term, they may as well explore the returns they'd get for retaining up to 50%. The retention slot is used up either way, but offering up Garland with a cap hit that starts with a '2' would be appealing to a lot more teams.

In this particular version there would be enough space to bring back Bear on a one year deal at last year's cap hit.

A retained Garland would be a great addition to the Canes, and I’m in the minority of other Canes fans who believe that Drury is a top 6 center, Suzuki has just had bad injury luck, and that Coghlan is a top 4 D.
