If he’s not the Leaf’s guy then what makes you think the Devils want him in exchange for a cheap goalie with potential?

The thing with Sammy he rebounds

If you look last year he had some rough stretches but always rebounded nicely

Just be patient as if Woll slows down were gonna need him like last year when Murray slowed down and he really took over

Keefe overplays Woll. Burns him out by March and the leafs crash out in round 1

Woll never played more then 32 games in any season

Schmid still has so much upside for the Devils. 3 bad games to start the season does in now way offset his magnificent play from last season.
No point in trading Schmid for a pending UFA in Samsonov, and especially so since Sammy's been playing even worse than Schmid to start the season.

With Samsonov gone, the motivation for Woll to try and steal and keep the starting position will be gone, and then he will feel all the pressure of having to be the starter. He might strive but it's a recipe for disaster considering he's a rookie goalie, especially in his sophomore year.

Are you not aware that Samsonov was a top 10 goalie last year? He should bounce back and be better than Vanecek. Obviously we're not trading Schmid for him.
