Why would the Hawks do this? They already have all of the goalie spots filled.

Also, Samsonov has been dogs**t this season and folded under the pressure of a battle for the number one spot. Additionally, Mrazek has been really good for Chicago this season as the veteran half of the goaltending duo and they aren’t sending Soderblom back to Rockford, they need to give him a chance to prove he is an NHL goalie.

The point of this is for Chicago to scratch soderblom or send him to minors then at trade deadline Chicago trades marazek and Samsonov for picks or prospects so when the two are gone soderblom gets number 1 goalie role

The Hawks have to give Soderblom an opportunity this season to see if he has an NHL future. Additionally, they already have their minor league goalie slots filled so there is no room on the farm for him.

Furthermore, giving up a 3rd for Samsonov leaves no meat on the bone, no one else will give more for him at the trade deadline making his acquisition pointless for the Hawks.

No not at all, you suggest sending Soderblom down and I’m saying the exact opposite. Soderblom has played two seasons in Rockford it is now time to see what he can do in the NHL.

Additionally, Samsonov has been garbage this season, if the Hawks trade a 3rd round pick to acquire him with the idea of flipping him at the deadline there is a strong likelihood they won’t be able to recover the cost they paid to acquire.

The proposal makes no sense for the Hawks on any a level.
