Must Happen

Created by: Coleharborcrosby
Team: 2023-24 Pittsburgh Penguins
Initial Creation Date: Oct. 28, 2023
Published: Oct. 28, 2023
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Jeff Carter has had a hell of a career. 2 cups.

But if the Pens are to have a shot they need to move him. Enough of this “he won’t waive” stuff. If he is asked, he would move to avoid sitting in press box. Send him to Sam Jose to play top 6 minutes and ride off into the sunset. The NHL respects its vet players which is a good thing but times like these go too far. He doesn’t deserve the hate he gets though and should enjoy his last season.

You lost.

Get over it.

Ottawa declines.

Try again.

If Pinto was going to sign for $900k, he would have done it in Ottawa already. Sharks are happy to take Carter as a cap dump for a 3rd, but you still need to pay for Barabonov.

First of all, there’s no chance in hell that gets us Barabanov or probably even Pinto. Based on Ottawas recent statements regarding him, Pinto isn’t being traded anyway.

I want Carter gone as much as the next Pens fan. He’s been comically bad. Even worse than last year, which is somehow even possible. Why would he waive when he has a family settled in Pittsburgh? MAYBE he’d want to waive if he were sitting in the press box where he should be, but Sullivan won’t let that happen.

Step one is healthy scratching him. Step two is HOPING Carter cares enough to want to be playing rather than collecting his checks for watching hockey. Step three is paying a pick to even move him out. Doesn’t seem like he’ll be going anywhere unfortunately. It’s just the reality of the situation.

Jeff Carter says no to waiving for SJ.

Shane Pinto is out until at least Mid-January 41 games due to betting on games. And he doesn't sign for $900,000 either.

Sens don't want to trade Pinto and it would take much more interesting pieces to change their mind

Sorry even if Carter wanted to move out and sharks swapped him with Barabanov your looking at the cost being likely a 1st

i think that Carter would be interested in waiving if it meant he got to play, but Pens would have to meet him half way, he wouldn't be interested in moving his family across the country again. Columbus, Philly, Washington all would make more sense.

I don't know if he has negative value or not but Ottawa values Pinto pretty highly so they would need better pieces than a 2nd round pick and a bottom-pairing D-man

They didn't want to trade Pinto for Chychrun in March and gave their 1st round pick instead (which ended up being 12th OA)

Disagree. Why would he not accept a trade to go play rather than end his career a healthy scratch? He’s a multi millionaire who won’t be living in Pitt next year anyways, he can buy or lease a house for a couple months no problem.

Sullivan needs to sit him and it will happen. Just do it already it’s so painfully obvious at this point.

They would still have to move there. It’s a couple of months. They could lease. They will ne moving at the end of the year anyways. Do you think they will continue to live in Pitt once he retires? Nooooo

I like that nhl coaches respect veterans but it’s too far in situations like this and it hurts the team and takes opportunities away from young players.
