Description

Trade assumes CGY is out of it and VAN is firmly in a playoff position in the New Year.

Bear should be fully recovered in late Dec. or early Jan. The Canucks want to bring him back, but will likely need to clear a little more space. Is giving up a 1st to swap Myers for Tanev worth the cost to get that done? I could see the team trying to re-sign one or both of Tanev and Bear on short deals, so it wouldn't necessarily be a true rental situation.

The 1st is a start, but given the amount of competition there’ll be for Tanev, you’ll likely have to add to Win his services

Next, you’ll have to compensate the Flames if you want to dump Myers on us. That’ll likely cost another 1st as well

Pretty reasonable maybe retain 1.5m on Myers to make the cap neutral, so Calgary can flip. Otherwise, I could see them asking for an extra 6th-7th for taking on an extra cap.

NO. A 1st is unnecessary after waiting that long for Myers to be near his contract end.

Tanev a UFA & best years behind him. The 1st would be better to keep.

I highly doubt Myers will cost a 1st to dump anywhere later in the season. Yes the cap hit is high, but he'll be owed next to nothing in real dollars and the acquiring team could retain half his remaining cap hit and likely flip him for a late pick.

Make it a 1st + Garland 25% Retained + a RD replacement, like Friedman, Juulsen or Woo and that would be far more appealing I think

Even if you retain 50% on Myers, we’re still going to want at least a 2nd or 3rd in addition to the 1st for Tanev
