I imagine Washington wants no part of this deal the second you add Myers and Van Riemsdyk. I'm very weary of Garland's extra term but more importantly for Washington, a move for a forward isn't an immediate need. McMichael has done well so far on the wing and will be fine (at least for now) transitioning to Backstrom's 3C position, and Backy's departure allows for Phillips to re-enter the lineup. I doubt Washington gets worse on defense when Mantha has performed well so far this season when given more than 10 minutes of defensive deployment ice time.

Backstrom on LTIR. But the Caps say no anyways so it doesn't matter

Cant see the Canucks having any interest in Mantha. He does not fit our style of game and is seriously over paid.IMHO.

I would agree, but I think his value is that he is an expiring contract and Garland is not.

With that said, I don't see why Washington would do this. TVR probably has more value than Garland, while Mantha and Myers kind of cancel out.

I totally agree.I would assume you would be looking for good prospects and or high picks in a return for TVR if he is available.
