Fire dorion

Created by: Talking_Senators
Team: 2023-24 Ottawa Senators
Initial Creation Date: Nov. 1, 2023

Description
While I don't agree with the ruling, this is inexcusable. Clearly Dorion knew what he was doing which is why the punishment is happening in the first place. Dorion just loves losing 1st round picks.

I think the most ridiculous part is that almost immediately after, they cleared Ottawa of any wrongdoing. To now, almost 2 years later punish them that hard, they must have gotten some really good proof of Ottawa leading them on that Dadonov didn’t file his NTC. I know I’m a homer but I would’ve thought a 2nd and maybe a fine would have sufficed, but I guess we don’t really know the proof they have of the wrongdoing. Just weird timing as well, couple months after the team sells, Gary didn’t want that price to drop lol plus the whole Chicago covering SA getting less of a punishment, and Arizona getting so heavily punished for working guys out, I have no idea what the standard is for this league. Also sounds like Vegas kept making a big stink about it, kinda lame

My tinfoil hat theory is that this was welcomed by Andlauer and the new management team as a way to get Dorion out. Once the dust clears after his firing they will appeal and the NHL will reduce the penalty to a lower pick.

the other thoery is that they wanted the sell of the sens the be done before putting a sanction in place so it doesnt affect negatively the buyers.

edit : its not like there was no reason to fire dorion before lol

It would look bad on Andlauer if he fired Dorion immediately after taking control of the team, this way, he has an excuse and can bring in his own guys. Don't be surprised to see the Sens appeal this and have the penalty reduced.

Since Dorion firing as overdue for 3 years, losing that 1st might be a blessing in disguise. It stops the bleeding at least. Doion has squandered a lot more than that over the years with his non-existent asset management.

It's infuriating because we had to be damaged by Dorion's constant mismanagement for 2 more years.

I wouldn't call that a conspiracy theory but more of a clever excuse to "get rid" of someone who has been hurting the team for years but couldn't be fired due to optics (he "built" a team on the rise, early in the season just after the team sale)
